Christopher Vélez, MD, is a member of the executive board of “Rainbows in Gastro” and the 2024 recipient of Healio Disruptive Innovators Award for his health equity work. While he is trained as a neuromotilist and is the associate program director for the advanced fellowship in functional and gastrointestinal motility disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital, he also is passionate about easing the health inequity LGBTQIA+ patients face in digestive health. He treats and investigates cystic fibrosis related gastrointestinal disorders, and has received funding from a variety of organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for his work.
