Justin Field, M.D. (he/him) is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and a gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, he completed residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and gastroenterology fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed an Advanced IBD Fellowship at UCSF.
His clinical and research interests focus on the prevention and early detection of anal cancer in patients with IBD as well as the unique needs of LGBTQ+ individuals with IBD.
He founded the UCSF Rainbow IBD Clinic, a multidisciplinary program dedicated to addressing the unique needs of LGBTQ+ patients living with inflammatory bowel disease. Through his clinical work, research, and advocacy, Dr. Field is committed to advancing health equity and improving culturally competent care for LGBTQ+ patients in gastroenterology.
