Victor G. Chedid, M.D., M.S. (he/him) is an associate professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and a gastroenterologist with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Chedid serves as secretary for Rainbows in Gastro. He is passionate about advocacy and equity for LGBTQ+ patients, trainees, and colleagues. He serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee at the American Gastroenterology Association and is the DEI liaison on the Government Affairs Committee for AGA. He also co-chairs the Minnesota Medical Association LGBTQ+ section.
Dr. Chedid focuses on understanding health disparities and identifying gaps in the care of individuals with IBD. He started and directs the Pride in IBD clinic at Mayo Clinic. He investigates ways to create a more inclusive and safe space for individuals with IBD who identify as LGBTQ+.
Dr. Chedid and his collaborators study the epidemiology of IBD in LGBTQ+ communities, the intersectionality between sexual orientation and gender identity, and its impact on chronic conditions such as IBD. Dr. Chedid studies community engagement to identify the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ community.
